Data Center Networks

As consumer demand for on-line services continues to grow, data center network equipment for both Ethernet client networks and dedicated storage networks is being asked to deliver higher and higher bandwidth.

Fiber optic links are not only becoming common, but required in order to support today’s higher data rates. Individual line rates of up to 10Gbps for Ethernet and up to 8Gbps for Fibre Channel links, are common with higher data rates on the horizon.

Avago uses its over 30 years of experience in optical system to deliver innovative fiber optic solutions for 10G, 16G, 40G, 100G systems and beyond. These pluggable and embedded parallel optical solutions allow system suppliers to innovate and differentiate their products.

In addition to fiber optic products, Avago also offers a variety of LEDs for use in routers, switches, and board-level displays.

Wireless Base Stations

In today's new wireless base stations, there is frequent use of fiber optic links to implement Fiber-To-The-Antenna (FTTA) to reduce losses and make it easier to connect multiple antenna sites to a common base station processing unit. Fiber optic links are also common for the backhaul transport connection between the base station and the rest of the network.

The remote radio units (RRUs) need RF components that are efficient, compact, and capable of being integrated into small enclosures while delivering excellent sensitivity and bandwidth.
